Regular launches of new, increasingly expensive models can be annoying, especially when all you want is a cheap cellular phone; knowing where and what to look for is the key to a successful search. Things have changed as these cellular phones have become part of our everyday lives; parents buy them for their children just so they can contact them at any time.
Business executives can be more effective using a multi-functional version and now almost every teenager has one. For a long time it was looked upon as a costly toy for adults and although they still have that element to them, they certainly aren’t a toy. Although some cell phones can perform many different functions, there are also those basic telephones that are available if you are on a budget.
They may be extremely clever but I have only ever wanted a phone that made a call and could send a text message, perhaps you are the same and all you want is a cheap cellular phone like me. As long as you know the limitations it will have, you won’t be disappointed. There are many people that do not actually use or want special functions like cameras, mp3 players and a video call facility on their phones so a call only phone is just right for them.
Although it is unlikely, a basic cheap cellular phone may only give you the most basic of facilities. It may be a basic phone but that does not mean you should skimp on its ability to receive and send calls as this may possibly be the most important reason for having your cell phone in the first place.
If you only want to send basic SMS messages then a basic model will not disappoint but many other text messaging functions on more expensive versions probably won’t be available. It will be hard to find a phone today that does not provide a decent text messaging service.
Don’t expect to buy an inexpensive phone with an email function although the chances are you won’t use it anyway. As a basic cheap cellular phone may not have this ability so if it is something you really need, you may have to re-think what type of phone you require.
Every month there are special offers from one or more of the phone providers and if you find a good cell phone plan, there will more than likely be a decent phone as part of it so you won’t need to worry about one that doesn’t cost much. You would be wise to consider something like this because you may actually be provided with a better phone that you would not ordinarily be able to afford just by signing up for a cell phone plan that is within your budget. A good deal like this means a poorer quality phone need not be an option you have to pursue.
It doesn’t matter what you intend to purchase, the internet is a great place to research, compare and find what you are looking for plus you will usually find whatever you want within the budget you set for yourself.

About the only piece of technology that now advances faster than that of computers is the cell phone but this can annoy many buyers; with all the functions available on the latest models, choosing the right one just becomes harder. So you won’t get caught in a ‘decision trap’, become educated before you make your next phone purchase; however, a little knowledge can make all the difference.
With the advancements in battery technology, batteries last much longer than they did when they were first invented but waiting until the last possible moment to recharge is not a good idea. There is nothing worse than finding out your cell phone battery is no longer holding a charge for very long as you seem to be recharging it constantly and you will probably need a new one.
Some cell phones have an automatic back light facility which only comes on when buttons are pressed which saves unnecessary power drain from your battery. If your phone does not have this function, turn the back light off when you are not using the phone or turn down the brightness if this cannot be done. Actually talking on the phone uses the most power when it is being operated as it is being used as a transmitter so reduce the length of calls and turn it off if you find yourself in an area with poor reception as the cell phone battery will drain itself trying to find a signal. The longer you talk the more power you will use; limit your usage of cell phone games or Internet browsing as these are high users of battery power even though you’re not actually talking.
Whilst downloading new ring tones and wallpaper is a great idea, many people are given free sample but forget they will be charged for the rest that are download automatically, sometimes without their knowledge. Children are usually the most likely candidates to get caught out like this so if you are buying a phone for your child try to buy a model where you can disable this function with a password.
The two man types of agreements for cell phone users are pay-per use and a monthly contract which can run for one or two years but which option you decide upon will depend on how often you intend to use it. Only you will know how often you make calls and how long they are on average but the pay-per use agreement is probably not going to be the most cost effective if you are someone who uses the phone a great deal. Consider the features you want, as long-term plans often have more features for less money or even as a bonus, at no charge; so ask if all your features, such as caller ID, will work when roaming.
Some plans do not include roaming charges which is something to consider if you travel a great deal as it could dramatically increase the cost. Don’t forget to find out what insurance cover you have if your new phone is lost or damaged. An insurance warranty is something that brings pace of mind when the chance of damaging or losing something so small is so easily done.
You also want to make sure that the parts and accessories are easily obtained from any regular cell phone store, even if you purchase the phone from an Internet based company.
